I have always thought that politicians were good at making promises but that reaching out and expecting help from them was completely hopeless. My state representative, Raghib Allie-Brennan proved me wrong, and I’m very happy he did.
I own Smoke & Mirrors Salon in Newtown, and after I met Raghib at a campaign event in 2020, he reached out to see what he could do to help small business owners. As I said, I was skeptical about what he would really do, but I told him about a provision in a state law that was hard on the hairdressing industry. To my complete shock, Raghib not only introduced a bill, he asked me to testify in front of the Public Health Committee. That bill was later signed into law.
Raghib Allie-Brennan really listens to his constituents and uses his position to help us out. He changed my opinions about what a politician can do, and I’ll be voting for him again in November.
